What Is The Mandela Effect?

Posted by AngelEowyn

There seems to be some confusion as to what a Mandela Effect is. This is what someone wrote in Reddit: “a Mandela effect is the same memory remembered by a mass majority of people”.

He was trying to make a point that if only 1 person sees a change, then it is not a valid ME – this 1 person is misremembering! I’m sorry, but I do not agree with this definition. So, If i wake up tomorrow morning to green polka dot walls, this is not an ME?????

On the contrary, I think Mandela Effect should be broadened. The reason it was brought to light was because many remembered the same thing, that is, Mandela dying in prison, but the actual effect can be experienced by small groups or even single people.

I had a discussion about this with my ex. Her explanation was that people today go around not really noticing things. I mean, details etc. Her explanation had merit, in the sense that it was logical. But then i asked her “How do you then explain why I have seen changes?”. She knows me, and knows that I pay attention to details. I see things that many others do not see. It’s always been that way. She did not have an explanation for that. So that kinda went out of the window!! I think I convinced her that ME is real!
